Standing at the front desk trying to decide between a membership, a class pack and a drop-in can feel like a math test you didn’t study for. I get asked about it all the time. So here’s a plain look at yoga membership vs class pack, and how to choose the option that actually fits your life.

The short answer

  • Practice once in a while? A drop-in or class pack.
  • Practice once a week or so? A class pack.
  • Practice two or more times a week? A membership usually wins.
  • Brand new? Start with a new student special and decide later.

Now let’s look at the details.

How a drop-in works

A drop-in is a single class. You pay each time you come. It’s the most flexible option and the most expensive per class.

At our studio, a single drop-in is $28. You can use it in studio or stream the same class from home.

Drop-ins are great if you’re visiting, if you practice only now and then or if you want to try one more class before committing.

How a class pack works

A class pack is a bundle of classes you buy up front and use over time. The per-class price is lower than drop-ins, and you don’t have to commit to a monthly payment.

Our 10 Class Pack is $240, which works out to $24 per class. It’s good for six months and can be used in studio or by livestream.

A class pack is a nice fit if you practice about once a week, travel a lot or have a schedule that changes from week to week.

The thing to watch: class packs expire. If you buy one and life gets busy, those classes can slip away.

How a membership works

A membership gives you unlimited classes for a monthly price. The more you come, the less each class costs.

We have two:

Path to Exploration (monthly unlimited): $175 per month, cancel anytime.

Path to Transformation (annual unlimited): $135 per month with a 12-month commitment. This is our best value.

Both include:

  • Unlimited in-studio classes
  • Unlimited livestream and on-demand access
  • Complimentary mat rental and personal mat storage
  • Complimentary member workshops and secret promotions
  • Special member parties
  • 5% off in our Green Shoppe and on in-studio workshops
  • Complimentary yoga lifestyle consultations

The simple math

Here’s a quick way to compare. If you come twice a week, that’s roughly eight or nine classes a month.

  • With drop-ins at $28, eight classes would be $224.
  • With class packs at $24, eight classes would be $192.
  • With a monthly membership at $175, every class after that is free.
  • With an annual membership at $135 a month, it’s even lower.

If you practice three or four times a week, a membership is clearly the better value. If you come once a week, a class pack likely makes more sense.

And remember, a membership also includes the full on-demand library and livestreams, so your home practice is covered too.

Things to consider beyond price

Motivation. Many people find that a membership gets them to class more often. When it’s already paid for, you go.

Flexibility. A monthly membership can be canceled anytime. An annual membership is a 12-month commitment and can’t be canceled or paused unless required by law. Class packs have no commitment but expire.

How you practice. If you love variety, an unlimited membership lets you try Restorative on Monday, Flow on Wednesday and Yin on Saturday without counting classes.

Extras. Workshops, mat storage and lifestyle consultations add real value if you’ll use them.

If you’re brand new, start here

Before choosing anything, try our New Student Special: three weeks of unlimited classes for $49.99. It includes in-studio and livestream classes, on-demand access, the Newbies class and beginner-friendly guidance. You can even add a private session.

Three weeks is enough time to learn how often you’ll realistically practice and which classes you love. Then the decision is easy. If you’re not sure what to expect, start with our class types page.

Membership discounts

Discounted memberships are available for currently enrolled college and high school students, seniors over 63, people on active disability, veterans and Yoga Alliance Registered Instructors. Bring a current ID and proof to the front desk or email us to set it up.

A few policies to know

  • Classes need to be canceled at least 24 hours in advance to keep your credit.
  • Monthly memberships automatically renew until you cancel by email before the next billing cycle.
  • Memberships and class packs are non-transferable.

You can read the full details on our policies page.
