A studio born from a dream. A community held together by something more than asana. A space where people come to remember who they are.
Three partners. Hundreds of names written down. One dream of a studio called Revolution Yoga.
A former bookstore in Rockville Centre transforms. Bamboo floors laid. Original shelves repurposed. Intentions written into the walls.
Best Yoga Studio of Long Island. a recognition that begins a streak still unbroken seven years later.
Doors forced shut. The community shows up in extraordinary ways. The studio survives because people willed it to.
The Revolution Yoga Institute for Yoga Studies grows from one yoga teacher training into a full curriculum: 200hr, 300hr, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, Sound Healing, Ayurveda, and more taught all over the world in multiple languages.
Livestream + on-demand library expanded. A student in Australia can practice the same Tuesday morning class as a student in Rockville Centre.
Sixteen years in. Same intention. Same studio. Wonderful teachers, students, and friends. And, all the new ones still finding their way through the door.
What began here moves outward into families, friendships, hometowns, generations. The revolution travels beyond the mat with every breath, with every experience connecting within.
In 2010, I was guided into opening a yoga studio so that I could continue leading and sharing the teachings that had transformed my own life.
At the time, my partners and I searched endlessly for the right name. We wrote down what felt like hundreds of possibilities, but nothing resonated.
One night, I had a dream that I walked into a studio called Revolution Yoga.
When I woke up, I knew that was the name. And somehow, it felt like the vision already existed before the doors had even opened.
One partner eventually moved to Abu Dhabi before we found a physical location. Another remained during the early months of the studio before moving into a new chapter of life and passing her shares on to me.
What remained was the vision itself. and the responsibility to carry it forward.
A revolutionary is someone committed to living fully.
They use every experience as an opportunity to elevate themselves toward greater awareness, deeper understanding, and a more meaningful way of being.
People who are not content with living half-awake or disconnected from themselves, nature, or each other.
At Revolution Yoga, we created a community for those people. A place where individuals could grow together, challenge themselves, care for one another, and evolve into more authentic versions of themselves.
Over the years, people have moved away, started families, built new lives, and carried pieces of this community out into the world with them. Yet somehow, many continue returning, because the connection created here remains alive long after a class ends.
Together, we ask the questions yoga has always asked: about the body, the breath, the mind, what's real, who is the true self?
Together, we show up for the practice, for the work, for each other. Not perfectly. Just consistently.
Together, we become more honest, more spacious, more useful versions of ourselves and that becomes the change.
When we began, our community lived inside the walls of the studio.
Yet over the years, our community has expanded to include students all over the world.
Our students carry the energy of what we collectively create into their families, workplaces, sister facilities, and larger lives.
Together we have created a Revolution of Consciousness — and a space of stability that one can always return to. To safely unravel. To be held. To rejuvenate.
Many studios remain on the surface of yoga.
At Revolution Yoga, we believe in going deeper.
The teachings shared within this space come from an unbroken yogic lineage. parampara. a transmission of wisdom carried through generations over thousands of years from the Himalayan Masters.
Our intention has always been to make these teachings accessible and relevant to modern life without losing their depth or integrity.
Perhaps that is why the studio has always attracted such a diverse community. People are welcomed as they are. They are supported, challenged safely, and given tools to heal, grow, and reconnect.
Not every yoga class is built the same way. Here is what you can expect inside ours.
Intelligent Sequencing
Every class you take with us is built on Vinyasa Krama. Each pose is chosen to safely prepare the body for the next, so the practice unfolds organically. opening flexibility and building strength as you flow.
Our teachers all study injury prevention, alignment and proper sequencing. The result is a practice that heals you rather than harms you.
Yoga's Sister Science
Every class is sequenced through the lens of Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old healing system that understands how the seasons and our environment affect body and mind.
From a pool of hundreds of postures, your teacher draws what your body actually needs in this season, leaving you balanced and brought back into equilibrium.
The Whole Yoga Package
Most studios teach the physical practice and call it yoga. We weave in all eight limbs. philosophy, breathwork, meditation, ethics, sense awareness, concentration, and absorption. alongside asana.
You leave class with a body that feels good and a mind with new ideas to carry into your life.
This is what makes a Revolution class a Revolution class. It is also why our students keep coming back.
The studio itself carries so many layers of intention.
Before becoming Revolution Yoga, the space was a bookstore. Many of the original shelves were repurposed and remain woven into the studio's structure today.
The floors are bamboo, a renewable material. Only natural and non-toxic materials are used whenever possible.
The green shoppe holds organic herbs, beautiful objects, teas, and lovingly curated natural pieces with the intention of improving the life of all who shop there. In reception we offer a wonderful library of spiritual books to rent from.
Over the years, countless students have shared stories about how this space impacted their lives.
Many told us classes helped them through grief, anxiety, illness, transitions, heartbreak, loneliness, or periods where they had nearly given up hope altogether.
Every story became another reminder that this work mattered.
I came back to my mat after my mother passed. The first time the room said savasana, I cried for ten minutes. Nobody made it weird. Nobody asked. They just held space.
I joined the YTT not knowing if I'd ever teach. Two years later I'm teaching seniors at a memory care center. This studio gave me the language and the courage.
During the lockdown my Tuesday morning class on Zoom was the only thing that felt normal. We were all tiny squares on a screen and somehow it was still community.
The pandemic tested the studio deeply. When the doors were forced shut, the community showed up in extraordinary ways to help keep the space alive and continue supporting one another.
That experience reinforced something we had always known:
Today, Revolution Yoga continues to evolve while remaining rooted in the same original intention:
Through yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, philosophy, movement, creativity, and community, we continue to explore what it means to live consciously and compassionately in the modern world.
There's a mat with your name on it. Whatever you bring, however you arrive, you're welcome here.
