It’s started: the days are shorter, and the sun sleeps in a little longer each morning. Cool, crisp mornings bring a sense of new beginnings, a desire to get organized, buckle down and get back in gear.

Fall is a time of change, and often the busiest season of the year, when we say goodbye to summer’s relaxation and return to our responsibilities at school and at work. In the transition from summer to fall, it’s easy to feel out of balance. But the end of summer doesn’t have to mean the end of relaxation. You can rejuvenate and re-energize even in the face of what seems like endless work! Calming, nourishing restorative classes can help you feel as relaxed as if it were still warm summer.

What is restorative yoga?

Restorative yoga is a passive practice that uses props to support the body in positions of comfort and ease, promoting health and well-being. The atmosphere is soothing: soft lights, calming music, delightful stretches and the scent of essential oils.

The benefits

  • Helps lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate
  • Supports the body’s systems, including circulation, digestion, elimination and respiration
  • Helps with sleeplessness
  • Relieves stress and builds resilience
  • Turns on the parasympathetic nervous system, the relaxation response, which supports immunity and the body’s natural healing
  • Releases deep tension, because every posture is passive and fully supported. For some people, long-held aches ease

You leave feeling grounded, balanced and deeply relaxed. Our restorative program has been cultivated over many years to bring together postures and relaxation techniques for the best possible results, and it is something we are very proud of.
