Dear Revolution Community,
I truly believe that every minute of every day, we are building the perfect life for our growth. And perfect doesn’t mean what we consciously think we want our life to look like.
Perfect is the life we unconsciously believe we deserve.
It doesn’t always feel perfect in the moment, but it is the exact medicine we need for growth.
When we live inside a life that is built on what we believe we are worth, the universe will offer us the same experiences again and again, each time asking a quiet but powerful question:
Are you sure this is what you’re worth?
From there we are given the gift of free will. We can accept or push away what is offered. This means we can remain where we are, or step forward into the next “perfect reality” that aligns with our choice. What we are able to accept is often determined by what our nervous system can tolerate.
The yogis have long said that Earth is a school, and that all experiences (whether we label them good or bad) are our teachers.
The mind, however, is constantly changing. Have you ever loved something deeply, only to feel indifferent or even repelled by it months later? Or craved something that later no longer served you? The mind is excellent at changing its preferences.
But that changing mind we usually think of (the stream of thoughts running through our heads) is only the conscious mind.
True transformation doesn’t happen there alone. It happens when a new understanding is held long enough, and in conjunction with a regulated nervous system, that it sinks in to the unconscious mind - where our deepest beliefs live and new neural connections are formed.
This is the part of the mind shaped during our formative years, often without our awareness. It’s where we learned, quietly and repeatedly: I deserve this and I don’t deserve that. And for the rest of our lives, the universe tests those beliefs, offering us opportunities to stay the same or choose differently.
Imagine someone says, “I’m going to write you a check. Tell me how much you want.” What would you say? Would $1000 feel right? Or would you feel uncomfortable accepting that from a stranger? Would a million dollars feel exciting, or impossible?
It’s one thing to consciously think I want a million dollars. It’s another for the nervous system to believe I deserve this, it’s safe and it’s real. Without that belief, we often talk ourselves out of receiving. We do this constantly settling for jobs we know aren’t aligned, staying in relationships where our needs aren’t met, procrastinating when opportunities arise, or not working toward our goals.
At the root of all this is self-worth.
Someone with high self worth can accept help, care, abundance, self-care, opportunities and can reject what doesn’t lead them towards self realization or align with what they know they deserve.
Someone with high self worth is able to sustain a regulated nervous system while getting, accepting, nurturing, and working towards what they truly desire in life.
The yogis recognized this thousands of years ago. They mapped the mind in all of its nuance and developed systems not only to strengthen the body, but to access and reprogram these deeper layers of consciousness so one’s worth can naturally blossom.
Many of these practices are woven into our yoga classes. The deeper work, however, I usually teach only in teacher trainings or in private sessions. But to begin this new year, I’m opening them up in a way I never have before.
As we step into a time when many are setting New Year’s resolutions, the studio is offering multiple ways to work with the subconscious mind together, in community.
For the first time in my over 25 years of study and practice, I’m offering a meditation workshop where I’ll share these “secrets of the mind” and introduce the ancient lineage of the Himalayan Masters. This workshop will be available both in person and online. Later this year I’ll also be rolling out a more expansive meditation training program as well as certification for those who wish to guide others.
We are also launching Mindful Making Nights where art is created in a meditative atmosphere. Our first gathering will focus on creating vision boards for the home, paired with a manifestation lecture, journaling exercises and practices to help clarify and align with the life you desire.
In the year ahead, we’re expanding in beautiful ways, creating space to learn deeply, feel inspired and grow into the most aligned version of yourself. We’re offering energy healing circles, men’s and women’s gatherings, a more expansive apothecary with herbal lectures and opening our doors wider for community connection and meaningful collaborations.
This year is about reclaiming the reins of your life and learning to guide it consciously, rather than being led by the wild horses of the unconscious mind.
We’re so honored to walk this path with you.
See you on your mat.
Peace and Love,
Amanda and the good folks at Revolution Yoga
