Dear Revolution Community,
I heard a story from a man who was put in jail for possessing drugs. Within this confinement, the man found himself with abundant free time that led him to the jail’s library. It was filled with numerous donated books on spirituality that offered him the opportunity to uncover potent practices that he spent his time mastering.
He recognized something that I’ve heard many of my own teachers reiterate about imprisonment. Even though the convict is locked up inside, the only difference between him and the prison guard is that the guard can leave at night. Yet, this fact in itself doesn’t make the guard more free. He may go in his car and drive to his home, eat his dinner, watch tv and go to bed, but we must truly understand what freedom is.
Freedom is a state of mind. If one has peace of mind they are more free than anyone who can roam the world unencumbered.
The man practiced meditation, pranayama (energy work) and contemplation. Through this, he gained the skill of manipulating his own frequency at will. Frequency is a measurable aspect of a person’s magnetic energy field. Every human body has its own “biofield” or magnetic energy field that fluctuates, dancing with the world outside and inside itself. Our yoga practices purify and heal this field.
He decided from his contemplation practices and all that he had learned, that he was already free. All he had to do was change his internal state to the frequency of freedom. He did these practices earnestly and religiously. He started to embody a feeling of freedom that nothing could shake. Even though he was within the walls of the jail cell, he no longer felt contained or stuck.
The moment he achieved this state and was able to maintain it, he was called to the warden’s office who told him they retested the drugs for a third time. They found this time that a percentage of them were fake. And he had already served his time for the ones that were real. So he was being released. There was no reason for them to retest the drugs. The timing seemed unbelievably kismet.
What the vedic system teaches, is that your external reality is a mirror of your internal one. It will reach out to meet you where you are. So while he couldn’t necessarily “break out” to find freedom, he found freedom within and the world met him there. His outer reality matched his internal reality.
This is why we come to our yoga practice daily. Because it is refining our inner world. It’s improving it, making it better, allowing space for energy to flow freely through our systems. It is urging us towards our own authenticity, freedom, peace and prosperity. You may notice your whole life changing once you take on a consistent yoga practice. This is no accident. The feeling you come out of savasana (corpse pose) with is an experience of the internal shift in your frequency. It doesn’t take much but it does require maintenance.
It’s an honor to be steward to a space where you can come and reset over and over again. To become the best version of you. Please check out our workshops and offerings below to establish a sense of freedom that nobody can shake.
Peace and Love,
Amanda and the good folks at Revolution Yoga
