Dear Revolution Community,
As we start the new year off, I wanted to start the theme of this month at the beginning, with the basics.
Did you know that having one fight or argument can cause you to become immunocompromised for 3-4 hours after? Also, did you know that inflammation increases for the same amount of time?
This can be an argument you have in real life or one you play over and over in your head, because your brain can’t tell the difference.
Did you also know that kinesiology testing shows that when you tell a lie, your physical strength gets instantly depleted? As opposed to when you tell the truth, the strength is preserved?
The yogis laid out (as my teacher put it) guardrails to keep us on the right path. The right path, being a peaceful mind, so we can experience the inner blissful self. The path towards enlightenment.
The first precept is Ahimsa. It means unconditional love, or is sometimes translated as non-harming. We try our best to treat others and ourselves kindly (which would include not participating in fighting).
The second is Satya which means truthfulness, honesty and authenticity. We don’t lie to ourselves or others. We try to recognize the truth of things. All of nature loves and rewards an honest person.
Yoga is an eight limbed system, where our physical practice is only one of those eight limbs. Through 2025, I plan to bring lots of offerings for you to experience each and every one of the limbs of yoga, so you may move forward towards your bigger goals for your life.
Philosophy workshops and teacher trainings will uncover the secrets of the universe and the secrets of self for you to be led by and benefitted from.
Workshops, classes and retreats will give experiential offerings for you to dive into being in the body fully and learning to retract your awareness from it towards something deeper and more profound.
Trainings, Kirtan and classes, will give you the opportunity to learn and apply meditation practice. Even the introduction of new modalities of Kriya and Pranayama, will give you the opportunity to experiment with the breath, nervous system and energy systems, so you learn to be in control of your body and well being.
Lastly we will be offering lots of opportunity for Sangha (community gatherings), so we may benefit from one another’s association on and off the mat.
Each individual who finds themselves, and within that, their peace, is like a candle that will light thousands of other candles, without losing its own flame.
I am honored to be the steward for our space and your journey towards divine self.
Happy New Year!
Peace and Love,
Amanda and the good folks at Revolution Yoga
