Lisa R. Ries began her fitness career at age fifteen. Previously Gold Certified by ACE (American Council of Exercise), she now focuses on yoga and holds an E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) certification from Yoga Alliance. She did her formal teacher training at Revolution Yoga.
Her first yoga sessions were self-taught, based on book-study. Then she ventured into a small class where she kept to herself, noticing that the practice was unearthing deeply-held sadness. Gradually, feelings of interconnectedness, contentment, playfulness and gratitude surfaced. She fell in love with yoga and began teaching. With over 30 years of experience, she continues to explore a highly eclectic range of styles, disciplines and philosophies.
Her classes blend freestyle choreography, attention to anatomy and physiology, and the poetry of yoga. They center on the symbolic resonance of the ancient asanas, yoga as an inquiry into the soul. Teaching yoga has shown her the beauty of each individual’s expression of the art of yoga. She has been witness to yoga as a gateway to healing and transformation.
Some of the things I'm most passionate about include: reading, writing, and editing; motherhood; spending time with loved ones; getting outdoors (the beach, the woods, a local walk, the front porch).
International adventures so far have been to Canada, Ireland, England, Jamaica and Bermuda.
